Marjorie Grant

Obituary of Marjorie Grant

Marjorie Grant, daughter of the late W. Hope and Mildred Grant of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Brentwood Care Centre on March 17, 2005. She was predeceased by her brothers and their wives, Colin and Nell Grant of Calgary, and Ken and Kay Grant of Nanaimo, B.C. She is survived by her cousin, Bob Grant of Calgary, and his family, and by her nieces and nephews and their families: Diane Bisaro (Larry) of Vancouver, B.C., Barbara Willoughby (Jack) of Nanaimo, B.C., Colleen Grant of Nanaimo, B.C, Brian Grant (Linda), Bill Grant (Nancy), and Darcy Grant (Natasha), all in Calgary, as well as many good friends she made over the years. Marjorie was born in Calgary, and was raised and resided in Parkdale, until her health forced her to move up the hill to the Brentwood Care Centre. Marjorie worked for many years at the CPR in Calgary, and then went to work for the Christine Meikle School in Bridgeland, where she worked until retirement. She then remained in the family home to care for her parents, until their passing. She loved to travel, and made many voyages to both the East and West coasts, and was to take a trip on the QE2 to Britain, when, unfortunately, the British Government commandeered the ship for the Falklands War. Marjorie was also a wealth of knowledge of the Parkdale area, and enjoyed recalling memories of the past in both Parkdale and Calgary in general. We will miss her a lot. We would like to express our thanks to a number of people who made such a contribution to the wellbeing of Marjorie over the last few years, especially Rhoda Uhl and her brother Lloyd, who watched over her house and her dog Rambo (sole resident for 2 years) when she was at Brentwood, as well making sure all was well when she lived at the house; Dr. D Stinton, nurses Randy and Jane, and companion Mary Pietsch, as well as all the staff at Brentwood Care Centre for making her stay there as comfortable as possible; the staff at Foothills Hospital Physio unit, where she was a regular; and Karen and all the staff at Homecare who looked after her needs while she was living at home. There will be a family memorial service at a later date. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Marjorie Grant, a tree will be planted at Nose Creek Valley by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH, CALGARY, Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
