Obituary of Guy Lane Perry
It is with great sadness that the family of Guy Perry, of Calgary, announce his passing, after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer, on Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at the age of 70 years.
Guy was born and raised in Saskatchewan, moving to Alberta where he was involved in the oil and trucking businesses. In 1965, Guy married Bev, the love of his life. They celebrated their fortieth wedding anniversary with their children and relatives on March 6, 2005. Guy’s family was very important to him.
In 1971, Guy founded Perry Graphics, a leading commercial web printing company in Calgary. The fifty employee firm was sold to Transcontinental Group of QuÚbec in 1985 and Guy retired to indulge his passion for golf. He developed many friendships in his forty-year membership at Willow Park Golf & Country Club. In retirement, the Perry’s also spent twelve wonderful years part-time in Palm Desert, CA at Ironwood Golf & Country Club. When not actually on the course, Guy could be found practising, reading, watching, or talking about the sport that was an enormous part of his life.
A strong, quiet and generous soul, Guy was truly loved by those who knew him. He was blessed to get his last wish, to stay active and independent, walking his dog Pepper in the park and spending time with his family, until his last day.
Guy, beloved husband, father, uncle, brother, and friend is survived by his loving wife Bev; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Curt and Gina, Ryan and Kim, and Jason; as well as a sister Frieda of Vernon, BC; and several nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the many friends that have been so supportive through this difficult time. It is truly a tribute to Guy, and how many people he touched during his lifetime.
