Obituary of Vida Bukvic
Vida Bukvic, beloved wife of Ljubo (Louis) of Calgary, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side on March 8, 2005 at the age of 82 years.
Vida was born on June 28, 1922 in Orahovica, Croatia (Yugoslavia). Vida immigrated to Calgary, Canada in 1967 with their daughter Danica to rejoin her husband Ljubo who immigrated to Canada before them. Her family was the most important thing in her life, she was devoted to them and loved to participate in their activities. The grand love of her life were her two grandsons, Giuseppe Nicoletti and Andrea Nicoletti; her face would be filled with love when she was around them. She loved life and took pleasure and great pride in her garden, where she would spend numerous hours. She was a tireless worker at everything she did. Vida also loved to bake and share the desserts with family and friends. She was a great Seamstress by trade and enjoyed making clothes for herself, and her daughter Danica when she was young. Her home was filled with lovely creations she would sew herself.
Vida is survived by her husband Ljubo Bukvic; daughter Danica Nicoletti (nee Bukvic); grandsons, Giuseppe Nicoletti and his wife Koleta, and Andrea Nicoletti; and great-grandson Eric Thompson, all of Calgary. She is also survived by her two sisters, Dusanka Zubcic and Evica Malovic, both of Croatia (Yugoslavia); also many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Mico and Soka Serbedzija, brothers Ljuboja and Stevo Serbedzija, father-in-law Ilija Bukvic, mother-in-law Stana Bukvic, sisters in-law, Dragica Poljak and Milka Perovic and her husband’s nephews, Ilija Poljak and Ilija Perovic.
