Obituary of Margaret Davey

Margaret “Grace” Davey passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Grace was born in Calgary on March 6, 1917. She grew up in Rosedale and the Drumheller Valley area, moved back to Calgary in the late 1930’s and married her husband, Albert “Al”, in 1942. Grace was an active, independent entrepreneur, owning multiple beauty salons in the 1930’s and 40’s; and eventually earning the Business Woman of the Year award. Grace had a special place in her heart for her neighbours and enjoyed spending time with her diverse group of friends, especially the Sewing Club (Donalda, Irene, Olive, and Pearl) to whom she was close for over seventy years. Grace was an open-minded, young-at-heart, spirited individual with a close and loving relationship with her devoted children. Grace is survived by her children Sandra and Neil Smith and Jack and Marsha Davey. She will be joyfully remembered by her granddaughters, Jennifer, Nicole, Krista, and Jillian, for her warm and fun-loving nature as well as her great sense of style. Grace was predeceased by her husband Albert “Al”; her parents Elizabeth and Maxwell; her brothers, Gordon and Jack; and her sister Audrey.
