Obituary of Eva Leong

With her husband, children, siblings and their families by her side, Eva Leong passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Foothills Medical Centre. Eva struggled with lung disease for many years, and after a brave week in the hospital, she is at peace in heaven to enjoy the company once again of her sister Yvonne, her parents, grandparents and favourite Auntie Nell. Eva is survived by her best friend and husband C.Y. Allan Leong, son Jason Leong, daughter Jamesina Leong-Huxley, daughter-in-law Julie (Skinner) Leong and son-in-law Tim Huxley. Her cherished grandchildren, Jade and Jackson Leong will miss their “Po-Po” terribly. Eva will be sadly missed by her sisters and brother- Elaine Soon, Emille Leong (Tim), Sharon Jung (Ken), Jane Lowe (Ed), Sue Bodnaruk (Al) and Gordon Jang (Gina); sister-in-law Sio Yee Leung, her favourite Uncle Jack Leong (Jean), many cousins, nieces and nephews. Eva just celebrated her 65th birthday. Born in Vancouver, Eva was raised in Calgary’s Chinatown, and moved to Vancouver where she met and married Allan in 1957. In 1978, they moved their family to Calgary to own and operate Capitol Food Store. Although Eva enjoyed retirement since 2001, she missed her daily interaction with customers and suppliers.
