Obituary of Robert Daniel RIVARD

September 18, 1951 – Montreal, Quebec May 21, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta Robert (Bob) Daniel Rivard, beloved husband of Janet Elizabeth Rivard (nee Wheeler) of Calgary AB, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at the age of 67 years. Bob was born in Montreal, Quebec on September 18, 1951. He married his sweetheart Janet in 1974 after a whirlwind romance. In 1979, he and Janet moved to Edmonton, Alberta where they started their family. Bob accomplished much through his life and was particularly proud of his wife and family. He adored his daughter, son and grandchildren, both two legged and four. His grandson’s say that his bear hugs and cuddles, easy going nature and the fact that he always listened were the best things about their Papa. The puppies just loved being spoiled rotten. Bob has always enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter through the years. He enjoyed hunting trips with his son, son-in-law and extended family and friends. His very best memories were often around a campfire with his favourite people. He was a long-standing member of the Sarcee Fish & Game Association, Alberta Fish & Game Zone 2 and volunteered with the Heart to Heart Association. Bob was a person who loved to help others and gave of himself unconditionally to those in need. He will be most remembered for his positive outlook and jovial nature. He had a gift for remembering names and always made people feel valuable for exactly who they were. Even through the worst of health he chose to make every day the best that it could be and spread happiness instead of pain. Besides his loving wife, Bob is survived by his daughter Kimberly and son-in-law Chris Shewchuk of Calgary, AB; his son Brian and daughter-in-law Ashley Rivard; and grandsons, Gabriel, Noah and Thomas of Airdrie, AB. In addition to his immediate family, he is survived by his mother Martha Rivard and brother Bruce Rivard.
