Obituary of Doris Ward

Doris Ward of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Holy Cross Long Term Care Facility on February 24, 2005 at the age of 85 years. Born in the Red Deer area, Doris moved to Calgary as a young woman and attended Henderson’s Business College. She served as a WREN in the Canadian Air Force during World War II, and later was employed by the City of Calgary Electric System. She was a talented artist, having studied at the Banff School of Fine Arts, and was an accomplished ballroom dancer, holding silver and bronze awards from the Arthur Murray School of Dancing. Doris was a world traveler, and a long time member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist (Christian Science Church) in Calgary and a member of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston Massachusetts. She will be very much missed by her many friends. Doris was predeceased by her parents George and Beatrice Ward, and a sister, Olive Ward. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, April 8, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with Joy Hinman officiating.
