Obituary of Albert Nesbitt Johnston

Albert Nesbitt Johnston of Calgary passed away suddenly at the age of 73 years on Monday, February 21, 2005 with his family at his bedside. Albert is survived by his loving wife Marilyn and his three sons and daughter-in-law, Mark, Danny, Paul and Franca; and his sister Vera Ross all of Calgary. Albert was born and raised in Calgary and attended Rideau Park School and Western Canada High School. His career was predominantly in sales, first with media, later with furniture and finally selling cars up until his retirement in 1996. Albert was involved at an early age in sports, playing football in high school, continuing on afterwards playing Jr. football with the Calgary Mustangs. Hockey, however was Albert’s true passion. He was involved with hockey for most of his adult life. Albert coached hockey at all levels, from community level right up to junior hockey and was a finalist for Sportsman of the Year. He was on the Board of the Calgary Canucks Hockey Club for the past ten years and actively attended their home games. Albert was also a keen supporter of the Calgary Stampeders Football Club as well as the Calgary Flames Hockey Club. Albert will always be remembered for his support of his family and his commitment of countless hours to amateur hockey in Calgary. Albert spent many hours shaping many young men for their future, some of whom went on to play in the National Hockey League.
