Obituary of de Grood

Elsie Margaret de Grood (nee Bollinger), beloved wife of Emmett of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 15, 2005 at the age of 77 years. Elsie was born on November 29, 1927 in Piapot, SK. In addition to her complete devotion to raising children, Elsie enjoyed cooking, baking, painting pictures, making chocolates at Christmas, driving, and shopping. “You mustn’t tie yourself to me with tears Be happy that we had so many years. I gave you my love. You can only guess How much you gave to me in happiness I thank you for the love you have shown But now it’s time I travel on alone. So grieve awhile if grieve you must Then let your grief be comforted by trust It’s only for a while that we must part So bless the memories with your heart. I won’t be far away, for life goes on So if you need me, call and I will come Though you can’t see or touch me, I’ll be near And if you listen with your heart, you’ll hear all of my love around you soft and clear. And then, when you must come this way alone I’ll greet you with a smile, and welcome you home.” Anonymous Besides her loving husband Emmett, Elsie is survived by her children, Valerie (Duane) Sears, Sandra (Bill) Newnes, Michael (Brenda) de Grood, and Douglas (Susan) de Grood. She was a wonderful grandmother to her nine grandchildren, Shauna, Jeffrey, Phillip, Andrew, Richard, Michael J., Daniel, Nicole, and Matthew. Elsie will also be missed by her surviving sisters, Divona and Irene; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Respecting Elsie’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service.
