Margaret May Chisholm of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the age of 88 years. Margaret was born in Smokey River Crossing, AB. She served as a Flight Sergeant in the Royal Canadian Airforce during WWII as a Code and Cypher Clerk. She returned to Calgary and worked at the Alberta Wheat Pool, married Jim Chisholm and raised her family. Margaret was a co-founder of Calgary Catholic Immigration Society, to which she dedicated much of her life until her retirement. She believed strongly in building community with a practical approach and meeting real need. Margaret had a strong personal commitment, a pioneering spirit and a great zest for life. She was a very vibrant person who embraced life. Her acts of caring spread beyond her family to the church and community at large by opening her home to all. Margaret will be greatly missed by her children, Patrick, Theresa and Joseph; grandchildren, Kyle and Kelsey; Margaret’s sister Helen Eagan and her brother Donald Leahy; as well as her sister in-laws Mary, Mercia, Shirley, Frances Leahy and Marie Leahy and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
