Van Hooft

Obituary of Van Hooft

Johan (John) Van Hooft went to be with his Lord and Saviour on Thursday, February 10, 2005, at the age of 74 years following a brief illness. John was born in Rotterdam, Holland on May 4, 1930 and immigrated to Canada in 1953. John and Marie settled in Calgary, making Calgary their home ever since. They were members of First Christian Reformed Church for thirty years. John’s career began as an electrician in Holland; in Calgary he worked for Stancer Electric, then established Thiessen-VanHooft Electric and subsequently Concord Electric, and eventually worked for Woodwards. His family was his pride, loving his sons and grandchildren. John will be dearly missed by his family, friends and neighbours, but we know he has gone to be with his Lord and Saviour. John left behind Maria, his loving wife of fifty-one years; four sons John (Jennie), Ralph, Brent (Alanna) and Bernie (Irene). He is also lovingly remembered as ‘grandpa’ to eight grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Ed Jager officiating. Due to allergies, the family would ask that absolutely no fragrances are to be worn. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
