Obituary of Thomas Valentine Marrs Winsor

Dr. Val Winsor of Calgary passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Val was born in Devon, England in 1913 and served in the Royal Army Medical Corp of the British 8th Army throughout World War II, in both the North Africa and Italian campaigns. After the war he established his Physiotherapy practice in Scotland. In the 1960’s he studied acupuncture in Europe, and went on to found the British School of Acupuncture in London, England. Over many years Val helped countless patients by practicing an innovative blend of Western and Chinese medicine that was unique at the time. He immigrated to Canada in 1996 to be closer to his family. Val will be lovingly remembered by his children and their spouses, Valerie and Joe, David and Maureen, Susan and Doug, Robin and Elaine, and Tom and Sonya; as well as his grandchildren, Richard, Anna and James Raiswell, Aislin and Nicholas Winsor, Christopher and Jacqueline Winsor and Kate Winsor. He was predeceased by his wife Phyllis. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Monday, February 14, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
