Obituary of Godfred Joseph Schweitzer

G. J. “Fred” Schweitzer, beloved husband for fifty-two years to Della of Calgary, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the age of 72 years. Besides his loving wife, Della, Fred leaves two sons and daughters-in-law, Blair and Wendy, Trevor and Anne-Maree; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Deborah and Frank McGinn, Kathleen and James Creighton, and Rae Schweitzer; as well as grandchildren, Joey, Emma, Chance, Erika, and Jamey. He is also survived by his mother Jessie; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Gail, Bert and Bobbie, Ralph and Jan; sisters and brothers-in-law, Gladys and Dale and Joan and Wayne; his lifelong friend Gawney; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends. He was predeceased by his father Joseph in 1977. Fred’s working life took him in many directions and his interests and involvements were varied and lifelong. He served his country in Korea but never a battle so brave as his last.
