Obituary of Sister Merle Mary Bintner

Sister Merle Mary Bintner (Sister Bernard Claire) of the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at the age of 89 years. Sister Merle entered the Sisters of Charity of St. Louis in August 1934 and received her initial training in Bienville, QC When she returned to Western Canada she obtained her Teacher’s Certificate and taught in various schools in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Sister Merle will be remembered for her spirit of generosity, her sense of gratitude, and her willingness to serve wherever there was a need. In recent years, Sister Merle inspired her community and all those who knew her with her kindness and faithfulness in her ministry of prayer. Sister Merle will be lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community; and by her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, one sister Maisie(Metz), two brothers Clarence and Bernard and one niece Susan Hornung. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. John’s Convent (409 – 10A Street N.W.) on Thursday, January 27, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church (640 – 19th Avenue N.W.) on Friday, January 28, 2005 at 10:30 A.M. with the Rev. Jan Drzazga, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
