Obituary of Cameron Eric Halvorson

Cam Halvorson passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, January 20th at the age of 62. He joins his Mom and Dad, an infant sister and brother, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and Bear. Cam was born in Cabri, Saskatchewan – the place that held his heart and will be his final resting place. Cam was schooled in Cabri and Calgary and also attended Olds College. He spent time farming and welding in Saskatchewan and came back to Calgary in the 1970?s. He was employed with Calgary Transit for over 31 years and currently holds Badge #32. Until he was diagnosed with cancer, Cam had not missed a day of work due to sickness for 24 years. He enjoyed many hours working in his garage and garden and lending a helping hand to others. Cam leaves behind his precious cats, Saucy and Katie – his girls. Cam will be lovingly remembered by his special friend Cathy, who supported not only him, but all of us unconditionally. Cam’s memory will be cherished by his four sisters, Sylvia (Richie), Eleanor (David), Marilyn (Jack) and Kim; by his many very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew, and by his step mom Jean and her family. Cam will also be remembered by his extended family circle of aunts, uncles, cousins, amazing neighbours and many friends. A special thanks to cousin Warren, “his brother for life”, for all his support, visits and phone calls. Many thanks to Dr. Withers, Norma and her Home Care team, and the doctors, staff and volunteers at Tom Baker. A Celebration of Cam’s life will be held at McInnis & Holloway, 5008 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary on Tuesday, January 25th at 2:30 pm with the Rev. Drew Strickland of Southwood United Church, officiating. Cremation to follow. If so desired, memorial donations may be made to The Red Cross Society, Medical Equipment Loan Service, 1305 – 11th Ave. S.W., Calgary, AB, T3C 3P6 or to the charity of your choice.
