Irene (Granny) Bailey, of Calgary, beloved wife for sixty-one years of the late Walt Bailey , passed away on Monday, January 17, 2005 at the age of 87 years. Granny was born on November 2, 1917 in Calgary. She resided throughout the west coast for approximately forty years, then moved to Fort Macleod, Lethbridge and finally to Calgary for the past three years. Granny enjoyed gardening, salmon fishing, golfing, and curling. But mostly loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. Granny is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Lyal Nelson of Cranbrook, BC, and Nancy and Peter Chivilo of Calgary; a son Michael Bailey of Langley, BC; seven grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa), Jeffrey, Erin (Ian), Marnie (Chad), Brandin (Joey), Carmen, and Lauren (Sean); and three great-grandchildren, Eric, Lauren and Olivia. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law Doreen and Art Baker of Sherwood Park. A Private Family Celebration of Granny’s Life will be held.
