Obituary of Darrel Rider

On the beautiful morning of Friday, January 14, 2005, Darrel “Pedro” John passed away suddenly in Calgary at the tender age of 45 years. Pedro was born on March 27, 1959 in Calgary, AB. He was raised in Morley, AB and received his education at the Morley School. Pedro was involved in sports where he participated as a Hockey Coach for the Morley Blazers and an active team member in baseball. Pedro’s characteristics include always having the time to lend a helping hand, volunteering to read scriptures from the Bible on Sunday in-home church services, his sense of humour by always having a joke and leaving a smile on a person’s face. His presence will be missed by all who knew him, yet his memory will be treasured. Pedro will be sadly missed by his beloved children whom he cherished with all his heart, Dwight of Manitoba, Michelle (Billie), DJ, Avery, and Trent; his grandchildren, Renata and Gracie; son-in-law of, Alfred Gooder and Veronica Hunter; his companion Beatrice and her son Spencer; his sisters, Louise, Patsy, Valerie, Lorraine (Charles), Jackie, Annie (Blaine), Celina (Preston), and Lynette; his aunts and uncles, May, Gwen, Stella, Lavina, special auntie and uncle, Yvonne and David, special cousin, Curtis; sister-in-law Corrina, George and Sheila, and Clara Rollinmud; thirty-one nieces and nephews and their children who knew him as “Grampa Pedro”; as well as numerous friends, relatives and extended families in Morley, Hobbema and Sarcee. Pedro was predeceased by his parents John Labelle in 1988 and Rita Rider in 1998; his brothers, Harold in 1974, Fred in 1979, Byron in 1994, and Jerry in 1995; his sisters, Victoria in 1954, Theresa in 1987, and Arlene in 1998; his grandpa’s Eli Rider in 1968 and Tom Labelle in 1989; his niece Sunshine in 1979 and nephews, Kevin in 1979, Jason in 1992, Leander in 1994, Blair in 1997, and Romeo in 2002. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Renetta Rider on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 and Wednesday, January 19, 2005. Funeral Services will be held at the Morley Gymnasium on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Chiniki Cemetery.
