Obituary of Filomena Hauenstein
Filomena Hauenstein passed away suddenly in Calgary on January 14, 2005. She leaves behind a loving family: husband Lieutenant-Colonel Peter Hauenstein; her two sons, James and Jason; two sisters, Annette (Santo Esposito) and Maria La Marca (Bill Friday); and immediate nieces and nephews, Anna, Salvatore, Paula, Paul, and Laura. She also leaves extended family in Calgary, Italy, Australia and Germany. She was predeceased by her father Paolino and mother Carmela La Marca. Filomena was born August 23,1950 in Marigliano, Napoli, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1956 with her family. She was educated and raised in Calgary. She had a zest for love, life and adventure. Her greatest loves were her husband Peter and two cherished sons, James and Jason who loved her above all else. Filomena and her family travelled extensively and worked in places across Canada and the world including India and Italy embracing each place as her home. She touched all those that met her through her kindness, energy and humour. Filomena made life long friends around the world leaving a wonderful and positive impression.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to be celebrated at St James Catholic Church, 5504-20 St S.W. on Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
