Obituary of Jerome Streeter Moroney

Jerome Streeter Moroney, beloved husband of Delores Moroney passed away peacefully at the AgapÚ Hospice on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at the age of 71 years, after a short battle with cancer. Jerry was born on September 21, 1933 in Okmulgee, OK. He spent his early childhood in Peru. After first attending school in Tulsa, he moved to Calgary in 1948 where he attended St Mary’s Boys School then University before marrying Delores in 1956. Jerry spent a lively career in the oil drilling business. After retiring in 1988, he enjoyed wood working, winemaking, cooking, fishing and the great outdoors. He also enjoyed cruises, traveling to Europe, South America and the Middle East. Before he passed away, Jerry went on a wonderful fishing trip with the family to the Queen Charlotte Islands, heard his favorite music Handel’s Messiah at London’s Royal Albert Hall and visited the birthplace of his ancestors in southern Ireland. Jerry cherished his very close bonds with family and friends. Besides his loving wife Del, Jerry is survived by his children, Claire (Alvin) Koch and sons James, Joel and Vincent of Calgary; Tim (Denise) and daughter Meghan of Denver, CO; Kathleen (John) Davison of London UK; and Michael of Calgary. He is also survived by his sister Patricia McCaffrey of Encinitas, CA; and brothers, Mike (Sou) of Vista, CA; and Marty (Jill) of Calgary. Relatives and friends wishing to pay their respect are invited to St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Wednesday, January 12, 2005 from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. followed by Prayers at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church (8944 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday January 13 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. We expect the many hundreds of squirrels that Jerry discretely relocated there over the years to pay special attention to this tree.
