Obituary of Maria Leonida Panattoni
Maria Panattoni of Calgary passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2005 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 85 years.
Maria was born in Villalago, L’Aquila, Italy and immigrated to Calgary in 1956 where she has resided since. She was very hospitable to new Italian immigrants in her home and helped them to adjust to their new country. Maria loved her family, particularly enjoyed family gatherings and her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren. A talented seamstress, Maria designed and sewed many articles of clothing.
Maria is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Fernando and Maria Teresa and Sandy and Gina; and five grandchildren, Daniel, Roberto, Geffrey, Cristina, and Marco, all of Calgary. She is also survived by a sister, Elva Grossi of Calgary as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Maria was predeceased by two brothers, Lello and Filiberto; and a sister Rosina.
Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Sunday, January 9, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Grace Italian and English Catholic Church (1714 – 14th Avenue N.E.) on Monday, January 10, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Emanuel Buttigieg, Presider. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Mausoleum. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
