Obituary of Kira Pauline Bekker

Kira Pauline Bekker passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 4, 2005. She was born in Calgary on June 6th, 2003, to Jennifer Bekker (nee Tomkinson) and Paul Bekker. Although her time on earth was brief she profoundly touched our hearts and changed our perspectives on love, suffering, and grief. Kira, our greatest joy was caring for you – watching how much you loved warm baths and how much we loved cuddling you afterward, styling your trademark curls, and dressing you in the sweetest clothes. You are our little girl whom we love deeply and will miss more than words can express. Kira is survived by her parents Paul and Jennifer Bekker; her big brother Lucas; her maternal grandparents, Donald and Pauline Tomkinson, and her paternal grandmother Joy Bekker (David Bekker deceased) and her husband Colin Austin. Kira will also be greatly missed by Aunt Karen, Uncle Graham, and cousins Kyla and Breanna Werschke; Aunt Shauna and Uncle Tom Coffyne; Aunt Rayette, Uncle Andrea and cousin Matteo Sollecito; Aunt Carmen and Uncle SÚbastien Gittens; Uncle Peter Tomkinson; and May Jamshidi, Kira’s Nanny. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W.) on Friday, January 7, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name Catholic Church (2223 – 34th Street S.W.) on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 10:30 a.m with the Rev.
