Obituary of Blair Backfat

Blair went home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 2, 2005. Blair will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He loved to laugh and tell jokes. Blair had a carefree lifestyle which included always having a houseful of friends and family. He ranched all of his life, an occupation he loved and enjoyed very much, especially with his father. Blair leaves behind his wife of twenty-four years Ann Marie Spring Chief; his beloved sons, B.J. and Jonas; his daughters, Lynn and Candace; his mother Florence Backfat; his brothers and their spouses, Henry Jr. and Stephanie, Brooks and Francine, and Fred and Linda; his sisters and their spouses, Mildred and Mike Three Suns and Roberta and Edward Jr. Jerry; a very special brother Mario and Karen Water Chief; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his uncles and aunts, Peter and Evelyn Cayenne, Allan Stevens, Walter and Linda Stevens, Michael Stevens, and Florence Calf Child; his adoptive parents Mike and Connie Rabbit Carrier; adoptive brother and sister, Floyd Olds and Sharon Running Rabbit; bestfriend Dwayne Three Suns; and special friend June Duck Chief. Blair was predeceased by his father Henry Sr.; brothers?, Timothy and Mark; sister Charlotte; nephew Lanny; and great-niece Faith. Blair also leaves relatives of Cayenne, Crane Bear, Stevens, Stimson, Delaney, Crow Chief, Shades, Calling Last, No Runners, Axe, Turning Robes, Calf Robes, Water Chief, and McMaster families. The family would like to apologize if we have missed anyone. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Blair and Ann Backfat (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, January 7, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Chicago Bridge Community Centre (Siksika Nation, AB) on Saturday, January 8, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Little Chicago Cemetery.
