Obituary of Richard Burk Dart

It is with overwhelming sadness that we announce the passing of husband, father, son, uncle, friend and coach, Rick Dart. He died after a heroic battle against cancer at the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary, on the evening of Sunday, January 2, 2005. Rick was born in Drumheller and was raised on a farm near there. He moved to Calgary in 1971 and married Pam in Banff in 1974. A true craftsman, Rick worked in construction, most recently for Wescom Glass and Aluminum Ltd. As well as building, gardening, and cooking, Rick delighted in watching and coaching his daughters in the sport of fastball. He will be remembered for his honesty, hard work and sense of humour. Loved ones including wife Pam (Ball); daughters, Bre-Ann and Christie; and his mother Elsie (Balmforth) were by Rick’s side. His father John Dart predeceased him. A Celebration of Rick’s life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Friday, January 7, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Byran D. Derksen officiating Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
