Obituary of Marina Yellow Fly

Marina Yellow Fly of Siksika Nation passed away peacefully at home on Monday, January 3, 2005 at the age of 68 years. Marina was born and raised in Siksika Nation. She attended the Old Sun Residential School along with her sister Mary Lillian Cutter. She also attended Bible Studies in Three Hills, AB. Marina made her Cursillo on May 10 to 13, 1990. Her theme song was “I’m willing Lord” which she loved to hear. Marina enjoyed being with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends with whom she loved to share her humour and laughter with. Marina will be greatly missed by her husband and special companion Noel Yellow Fly; her children and their spouses, Floria and Charlie Duck Chief, M. Joy LaFrance, Polly and Aaron, Effie and Glen, Debbie and Rodney, Eugene and Andrea, Sally and Orland, Keivin and Rae, and Brennan; her special nineteen grandchildren; and her sixteen great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters, Mary Lillian Cutter, Irene and Helen Cutter, Wallace and Alvina Cutter, Judy and Ken Doore, Melvin Drunken Chief, Jerry and Yvonne Black Horse, Judy Black Horse, Delphine MacPhail, Elizabeth and Alvin Big Crow, Ethel Medicine Traveller; her in-laws, Virginia and Allan Medicine Traveller, Percy, Art, Ernest, Kenneth Yellow Fly, Donnie and Alphina Yellow Fly; adopted sisters Ruth Scalplock and Patricia Breaker; adopted children, Rufus, Jordan, Dion, Anthony, and Julie Red Gun, Ann Blackwater (Rabbit Carrier), Gary and Bobby Jobin, and Angela Cutter; Special friend Daisy Smith; as well as many extended relatives, Cutters, Many Bears, Black Rabbits, Wolf Childs, Two Horns, Pretty Young Mans, and Many Heads families; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Marina was predeceased by her parents Charlie and Rosie Cutter; grandparents, Tom and Minnie Two Horns; brothers, Ronald, Harold, Mervin Cutter, and Urbie Black Horse; sisters, Margaret Rose Red Gun, Miranda Cutter, and Phyllis Black Horse; great-granddaughter Winter Rose Yellow Fly/Breaker; father and mother-in-law Teddy and Jane Yellow Fly; son-in-law Brad LaFrance; and several nephews and nieces. Wake Services will be held at the residence of Noel Yellow Fly (Siksika Nation, AB) on Thursday, January 6, 2005 at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at St. John the Divine Anglican Church (Siksika Nation, AB) on Friday, January 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Paul Little Walker.
