Obituary of Giuseppe Sirianni
Giuseppe Sirianni of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Friday, December 31, 2004 in his 98th year.
Giuseppe was born in San Giovanni in Fiore, Cosenza, Italy, in 1907 and immigrated to Canada in 1959 with his wife Maria joining him in 1960. He worked for the City of Calgary’s Parks Department until his retirement in 1972. Papa Giuseppe, as he was lovingly known by his family, carried his love of gardening to his greenhouse in N.E. Calgary where he reputably grew the best peppers and tomatoes in the city. He also enjoyed wood working in his shop making wonderful duck carvings and model stagecoaches that his family enjoys today. Papa Giuseppe was predeceased by the love of his life Maria in 1996. They were married for sixty-nine years and she lived in his heart every day.
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Giuseppe) Talerico, Rosa (Saverio) Durante, Domenico (Rosa) Sirianni and Salvatore Sirianni all of Calgary. He is also survived by his two sisters-in-law, Genoveffa Adrieri and Guiseppina Nicoletti both of San Giovanni in Fiore, Italy. He is predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Teresa Sirianni in 2002.
Papa Giuseppe will be sadly missed by his children, fifteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Papa Giuseppe was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. His warmth and generosity will be missed by all that were touched by his wonderful spirit.
