Obituary of Betty Rebecca Messer

Our dear “Little Auntie” Betty passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 30, 2004 at the age of 93 years. Auntie Betty, although she never married, loved life and lived it to the fullest. Family always came first. Singing, dancing and acting were her passions. Betty came to Calgary in 1963 from London, England where she appeared in leading roles in many Gilbert and Sullivan Society Productions and other light Operas. She was a Gold Medalist Teacher of Ballroom Dancing, and appeared in many theatrical productions in Calgary. Betty was a member of Hadassah Wizo, Shaarey Tzedec Congregation and Beth Tzedec Congregation. She will be dearly missed. Betty is survived by her sister-in-law, Betty; nephews Barry (Mira), and Howard (Wendy); great-nieces Toby (Steven), Lee-Anna (Ryan), Tamar, Naama, Rachella and great nephew, Aaron (Susie); great-great-nieces Jordan and Talia; great-great-nephews, Joshua, Braedan and Seth. Betty was predeceased by her parents Simcha and Sarah Messer; and brothers, Samuel and Alfred. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 – 17 Avenue SW) on Sunday, January 2, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Internment to follow at Erlton Street Cemetery, Erlton Street and 30th Avenue S.W.
