Obituary of Albert Shinichi Takimoto

Albert Shinichi Takimoto passed away at the Colonel Belcher Centre in Calgary, AB on December 24, 2004 at the age of 88 years. Albert was born on October 3rd, 1916 in Vancouver, BC to Tsuchi and Naokichi. Sergeant Albert Takimoto received the Burma Star in recognition for his leadership of the first troop of Japanese-Canadian soldiers in the Canadian Armed Forces during WWII. Albert retired at the age of 83, from his lifetime career as a Chartered Accountant with Price Waterhouse Cooper in Toronto, ON. Albert will be remembered as a loving and honourable person who was dedicated to his family and to his faith. Albert is survived by his four daughters; twelve grandchildren; a great-grandson; and two sisters. He was predeceased by his wife Gladys (Hambley); his parents and his younger sister and brother. A Memorial Service was held at St. David’s United Church (3303 Capital Hill Crescent NW, Calgary) on December 30, 2004 at 4:00 pm, with Rev. Min Takada officiating.
