Obituary of Stanley Horace Whayman

Stanley H. Whayman, surrounded by his loving family, passed away after a brief illness on Monday, December 20, 2004 at the age of 84 years. Stan was born in Norwich, Norfolk, England. At the of age nineteen, he joined the R.A.F. in 1939 and was sent to Canada for training where he met the love of his life, Joan. He returned to Calgary in 1947 to marry Joan, his wife of fifty-seven years. He was employed by Imperial Oil Refinery for twenty-eight years as an Instrument Technician, retiring in 1976 when the plant closed. He then spent an additional five years with Spartan Controls as an Inside Salesman. Stan was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed curling (winning several trophies) and loved to go fishing, particularly at the family summer place in Idaho. Stan is survived by his wife Joan; daughter Linda (Wally) Kostel and grandson Ryan of Calgary; brothers Ron (Hazel) of Ramsgate, England, and David of Norwich, England; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, both in England and Canada. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive SW) on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at 2:30 p.m with the Rev. Clinton M. Mooney officiating.
