Obituary of Mary Isabelle Louise Lees

Mary Isabelle Louise Lees of Calgary passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the age of 90 years. Louise was born in Stettler, AB on March 20, 1914 and moved to Calgary with her parents early in her life. She graduated in Nursing from the Calgary General Hospital in 1935 and practiced for a number of years including isolation and private nursing. She lived most of her life in Calgary except for twelve years of residence in Fort Saskatchewan, AB. Louise devoted many hours to painting and was an accomplished artist in oils, acrylic and watercolor. She loved gardening and was devoted to her family. Her optimistic demeanor served to comfort those close to her. She was open minded, relishing diversity in friends, ideas and experiences. Louise is survived by her three loving children; her son and daughter-in-law Robert and Vanna of Calgary, her son John of Nanaimo, BC; and her daughter and son-in-law Judy and Murray Sigler of Calgary. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and their spouses, Steven and Kumi of Vancouver, BC, Sean and Kari of Nanaimo, Cari and Bryan Rai of Victoria, BC, Scott and Bonnie of Calgary, Patrick and Valerie of Airdrie, AB, and David Sigler of Charlottesville, VA; as well as her six great-grandchildren, Dakota and Brittany Rai of Victoria, Lexie of Nanaimo, Jackson and Carter of Calgary and Emma of Airdrie. Louise was predeceased by her husband Thomas Lees; her brother Jack Scott; and her sister Della Foster.
