Obituary of Lillian Lizzie McLellan

Lillian Lizzie McLellan, beloved wife of Jim McLellan of Calgary, passed away at the Sarcee Auxiliary Hospital on Sunday, December 19, 2004 at the age of 85 years. Lillian was born September 26, 1919 in Irricana, AB to Mary and Carl Garfield. She attended Henderson Business College to study shorthand and typing. She later taught these skills at the college in the evenings. Lillian worked for numerous Calgary companies as a secretary and bookkeeper. She worked for Jack MacKenzie at Lincoln McKay Development for many years until her retirement in 1985. Lillian married Jim on October 21, 1950 in Calgary. They lived together in the Richmond area where she was active in the community association, home and school, minor hockey and with the Central United Church. Lillian enjoyed curling, hiking in the mountains and spending time with all of her special friends and family. Besides her loving husband Jim, Lillian is survived by her son Bruce; her daughter and son-in-law Janet and Eugene Sandahl; her grandchildren, Lindsay, James, Kendal, Neil, and Kyle. Lillian is also survived by her sister Nettie Pedlar, her sister-in-law Ann Christie and her husband Walter; as well as many nieces and nephews including Georgianna McDavid, Mary Hays, Dick Pedlar, Lorraine Mohr and Cathy Kemp. She was predeceased by her sister Helen Sabin in 2004. Lillian spent the last eleven years in the Glenmore Park and Sarcee Auxiliary Hospitals with Alzheimer’s Disease.
