Obituary of Harold Jackson Anderson

Harold Anderson passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at the age of 83 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie Perle Anderson of forty-seven years on November 6, 2004. He was the leader and last surviving member of the original Calgary Ranch Boys Band. Harold’s sons Norman Anderson and Bobby (van) Haaren will carry on the tradition. Harold was born in Calgary on March 27, 1921 and grew up on a farm west of DeWinton. Harold, Entrepreneur, Music Teacher, and Accomplished Musician having graduated from the Royal Conservatory of Music at the age of thirteen. He played and performed across Canada, the U.S.A., and Mexico. Harold entertained during the Calgary Stampede for over fifty-five years. He was closely associated with the original founders. Harold received numerous plaques, certificates and awards over the years for his entertaining, performing and charitable commitments to the cities, communities and organizations to which he belonged. He was a life-time member of the American Federation of Musicians. Harold will be dearly missed by his sons, Norman Anderson and Bobby (van) Haaren of Calgary; grandchildren Leisa Schimpf and her husband Kevin, Amanda and Melissa van Haaren; great-grandchildren, Cody, Colten, and Amy Schimpf; nephews, Terry and Gary Anctil; and relatives, Laura Anderson, Ken Anderson and family, Robert Anderson and family, Rick Anderson and family, Wayne Anderson and family, and Bill Anderson and family, all of Calgary; as well as numerous long-time friends and musicians in Canada and the U.S.A.
