Obituary of Grace Victoria McDonald

Grace Victoria McDonald of Calgary passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at the Rockyview General Hospital at the age of 78 years. Grace was born on her mother and father’s homestead north of Airdrie, AB on February 18, 1926. As an adult, she moved to Calgary and studied secretarial skills and earned a certificate in Office Law. Grace worked in Law until her retirement. She was married to Clifford Stanley (Spike) McDonald on April 29, 1949. Most of her life was spent in Calgary, retiring to Didsbury with her husband until he entered an extended care facility in Calgary. Grace then moved back to Calgary to assist with his care. Our mother was a caring and generous lady and supported all of our endeavours as crazy as they were, welcomed our friends as family and always had something to feed us all when we showed up out of the blue. She had a wonderful sense of humour and a very sharp wit that kept us all in line. Grace was the loving supportive mother of a son and daughter-in-law Patrick Michael and Linda McDonald; two daughters and a son-in-law, Leslie Ann and Gerry Muza, and Florence Gail McNamara. She was the proud and adoring grandmother of John (Valerie), Beth, Jennifer (Gregory), Randall, Krista (Steve), and Lana and the great-grandmother of Casey, Ashton, Wyliem, Nyckolus and, as of December 14, 2004, Austin. Grace is survived by her brother Thomas Howe and his wife Phyllis; and her sister-in-law Cora Berg who was also one of her dearest friends; as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored. Her greatest joy was seeing them every year at our annual family reunion. Grace was predeceased by our father on December 21, 1988; her sisters Florence Belanger and Edith Faulkner; and brother Sidney Howe. Memorial Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Saturday, December 18, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
