Obituary of Jose Dorothy Shapley

It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of Jose Dorothy Shapley (nee Wakelin), beloved mother and best friend of Jane Merritt of Airdrie, at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at the age of 78 years. Jose has gone to join her beloved Ron after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in England in 1927, the oldest of three and immigrated to Canada. Jose worked at Brentwood Safeway for a number of years and then at the University of Calgary in the Controller’s Office where she retired from in 1989; the year her first grandchild was born. She lived in Charleswood until 1998. After her husband Ron’s passing in 2002 she moved to Airdrie to be with Jane and her family. Besides her loving daughter Jane, Jose is remembered by her son-in-law Rob; grandchildren Colby, Hayden, and Jordan; a sister Maureen Pask of England; and a brother Charlie Wakelin of Florida. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of fifty-one years, Ron Shapley, in December of 2002.
