Obituary of W. Hunter Tate
W. Hunter Tate of Calgary, passed away at the Trinity Lodge on Monday, December 6, 2004 at the age of 84 years.
Hunter was born in North Battleford, SK on June 5, 1920. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with his Mechanical Engineering Degree and started work with General Electric. In 1957, Hunter started with Lennox Industry Canada. He finished his career with them as President in Toronto, ON. Hunter retired in 1980 and moved to Calgary to pursue his love of curling, golf, and tennis. Hunter was an active member of the Glencoe Club and the Earl Grey Golf Club.
Hunter is survived by his children Lonnie and Karen Tate and John and Noella Tate, all of Calgary and Paul and Barb Tate of Toronto, ON; seven grandchildren and spouses, Lynda and Rob Shull, Michael Tate, Jason Tate and Nicholl Parder, Roderick Tate and Stephanie Lawson, Dylan, Dustin, and Hunter Tate; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Caylie Shull; sister-in-law Laura Tate of Toronto, ON; and numerous extended family. Hunter was predeceased by his wife Muriel; and his brother Harry Tate.
A Celebration of Hunter’s life will be held at Earl Grey Golf Club (6540 – 20 Street SW) on Saturday, December 11, 2004 at 1:00 pm. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
