Obituary of Anna Otelia Foster

With all my heart, I will celebrate, and I can safely rest -Psalm 16:9 It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Anna Otelia Foster (nee Tonn), on December 3, 2004, at the age of 89 years. Anna was born in Brokenhead, MB, on November 9, 1915. From Manitoba, Anna lived many years in Toronto, ON where she was pre-deceased by her husband, Frederick Wallace Foster in 1947. In 1986 she moved with her daughter and her family to Calgary, AB. She loved to sew and knit for her granddaughters when they were young. She continued her knitting of afghans for her great-grandchildren when they were infants and again when they became older. She was still busy knitting another afghan at the time of her passing. She was Granny to all her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and their friends. She loved to cook and bake and did so until a couple of years ago with her specialties being perogies, cabbage rolls and cinnamon buns. Anna loved to sit on the back deck during the warm weather and knit. While doing so, she loved to watch the leaves and flowers bud, especially her rose bushes bloom and the birds feed. She will be greatly missed by her loving and caring daughter, Rosemary Welton and her husband, William Welton. Her four granddaughters and their spouses also dearly loved her, Cathy-Ann Welton, Christine Welton and Rod Hutson, Cari Welton-Mamone and Dino Mamone and Charlaine Welton and Allan Narfason. Anna enjoyed and cherished her eight great grandchildren: Melissa Hagen, Amanda Welton, Vanessa Welton, Zachary Welton, Chantelle Mamone, Brittany Mamone, Cole Narfason and Tyler Narfason. Her older sister Elsa Jones of Oregon and her brother Gus Tonn of Manitoba as well as her brother-in-law, Bruce Foster survive her. She was predeceased by her brothers, Mike, Henry, Harold, Emil and her sisters Lydia, Martha and Sarah as well as by her numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive SW) on Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at 2:30 p.m. with the Rev. Greg Junghans officiating.
