Obituary of Viktor Vidmar

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Viktor Vidmar at his home on Friday, November 26, 2004 at the age of 68 years. Viktor was born in Kamnick, Yugoslavia and immigrated to Canada at the young age of nineteen. He was a gifted Masonry Worker for over twenty years, and he loved to work with his hands. In addition to that, turning out a magnificent garden every year was another passion of his. An incredibly skilled chess player, Viktor was always ready to take on his next opponent. Being a member of many different collectors’ clubs, like his twenty-five plus years with the Calgary Numismatics Society, Viktor loved to donate his time to them by volunteering regularly. Spiritually speaking, he was a member of the Church of God. Viktor is survived by his three children, Charlcie, Andrej and his wife Darlene, and Renee Vidmar of Saskatoon, SK. He also leaves behind three grandchildren, Mandy, Alyssa and Matthew. Viktor was predeceased by his parents and siblings in Yugoslavia as well as his former wife Winnifred Clysdale. His love of books and numbers has enriched the lives of his family and friends. Viktor’s ability to affect change, his lively sense of humour and his friendly smile will be missed by us all. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Sunday, December 5, 2004 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A Celebration of Viktor’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive SW) on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. Graveside Service to follow at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens.
