Obituary of Yvonne Lois Woodlock

It is with great sadness that Bonnie’s family announces her passing on November 29, 2004 at 1:30 in the afternoon, in the presence of her family, at the wonderful AgapÚ Manor (Hospice). Bonnie’s passing was after a long and courageous battle with leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Beloved wife and best friend of Michael for forty-four years and cherished mother to Carole (Peter Byrne) of Rochester, NY, Debi (Dennis Brown) of Richmond Hill, ON, Kelly (Stuart Chan) of Calgary, AB, and John (Jordan Bowie) of Ottawa, ON. Bonnie’s love for her husband and children was met only by her immense love for her grandchildren, Cody, Chelsea and Scot Brown, Brendan Byrne and Maya Chan. Our Mom was by far the strongest and most inspirational mother any child or grandchild could wish for in a lifetime. Bonnie was born and raised in Calgary by her single mom, Dorothy Smith. After being married at a very young age, Bonnie and Mike raised four children and did everything possible so she could be at home with her kids until they were all settled in school. Once the kids were all in school, she then embarked on a career in addition to the one she had in the home. Bonnie worked in the healthcare industry, in sales, for twenty very successful years. The greatest joys from Bonnie’s career were the people and patients she encountered and the challenges they faced together to make a difference in the health care industry. Bonnie is also survived by her brother Ian (Stef) Smith of Parksville, BC; and her sisters, Maureen (David) Thomas of Nanaimo, BC and Sandi Smith (Keith Mills) of Calgary; nieces Joanna Smith (Todd Smylski) of Calgary, and Nicola Thomas (Pat Lynch) of Canmore, AB; and great nephew, Jason Smith; as well as the families of her Aunts and Uncles (George and Vonnie Sutherland, Harry and Irene Knight, and Lois Larue) were also very much a loved presence in her life. Bonnie was predeceased by her father, Ian R. Smith in 1990; grandson Max Chan in 2001; and her mother Dorothy E. Smith in 2003. A Celebration of Bonnie’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
