Obituary of Lorry Sultanov

Lorry (Lora, Larissa) Sultanov, beloved wife of Solly and mother of, Elliot and Daniel, passed away peacefully after a long and courageous battle with cancer at their home on Sunday, November 28, 2004 at the age of 59 years. Lorry was born on November 11, 1945 in Dushanbe, U.S.S.R. During her youth she moved to Riga, Latvia, where she finished her Master’s Degree at a prestigious University and went on to become a successful Chemical Engineer. Soon thereafter Lorry met her love, Solly, and they wed. Thereafter Lorry had two sons, Elliot and Daniel which according to her, was her biggest accomplishment and purpose in life. In 1989, Lorry along with her family, immigrated to Calgary in hopes of giving her children a better life. Lorry was a very humane, giving person with an incredible intellect and sense of humour. She was immensely dedicated to helping and loving those around her, even if it was at her expense. She truly had a romanticism with life and lived everyday as a Romantic. She will be dearly missed by her family and by the hundreds of friends she accumulated over the years of her life Besides her husband and two sons, she is also survived by her sister Yesefina; her nephew Ben; her brother-in-law Matus Ginzberg; and niece Yana Volf. Lorry was predeceased by her father Benjamin Zeiserman; and her mother Luibov Gotlib. Funeral Services will be held at the Jewish Memorial Chapel (1702 – 17 Avenue S.W.) on Tuesday, November 30, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. Interment to follow in the Jewish Cemetery (30th Avenue & Erlton Street S.W.). .
