Obituary of Iva Alanen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Iva (Oja) Alanen of Calgary on Tuesday, November 9, 2004. Iva was born on August 28, 1921 in Rocky Mountain House, AB. She married her husband Oiva Alanen in 1940 and came to Calgary in 1946. Iva loved camping and fishing in the great outdoors as well as spending time with her many friends at the Legion and at the Beverly Centre Midnapore. She enjoyed dancing and especially loved spending quality time with her family and grandchildren. She will be fondly remembered for her ability to see humour in everything and her love of laughter. Iva is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Don and Cynthia Alanen and her daughter and son-in-law Lois and Pat Whiteside of Calgary. Iva is also survived by her grandchildren Sheri, Lana, Craig, Scott, Lauren, and Davis; as well as her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Iva was predeceased by her husband Oiva in 1993. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 12:00 noon. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
