Obituary of Annie Mary Zawalykut

Annie Mary Zawalykut (nee Halas) of Calgary passed away at the George Boyack (Carewest) on Monday, November 8, 2004 at the age of 91 years. Annie was born on November 15, 1912 in Calgary. She went to school at St. Angela’s, St. Mary’s and Commercial Business School. Annie was very active in the Ukrainian Community when she was young and sang in the Ukrainian Church Choir where she met Mike. They were married in 1938 and enjoyed forty-four years together. She worked at The Bay and Bruce Robinson Electric. Annie and Mike lived for each other and enjoyed bowling and traveling. They made two trips to the Ukraine, saw Disneyland and the Rose Bowl parade. They loved camping and pulling the trailer. Annie is survived by her three sons and two daughters-in-laws, Steve Zawalykut, Ed and Roseanne, and Pat and Shirley; and her sister Catherine Wirth (nee Halas). She was predeceased by her husband Michael in 1982; her brothers, John, Joe, Mike and Peter; and her daughter-in-law Jeanette Zawalykut. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Catholic Church (830 – 21st Avenue S.E.) on Friday, November 12, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
