Norman Webb

Obituary of Norman George Webb

Norman George Webb of Calgary passed away peacefully at the Rockyview General Hospital on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at the age of 87 years. Norman was born on December 6, 1916 in Calgary. He married Edith Skuce on October 7, 1938 and together they raised their family in Calgary. Norman was actively involved with the plumbing and heating industry in Alberta for over sixty years, working for Bell & Morris, Western Canada Hardware, Western Supplies Ltd., and finally, Westburne (now known as Wolseley) where he spent over twenty enjoyable years. Norman was well respected in his industry and stayed active until the age of seventy-seven. One of Norman’s great passions was classical music and he could identify virtually any piece and composer within seconds of listening to any selection from his extensive music library. Hearing the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and visiting the birthplace of Mozart in Austria touched him deeply. Norman also had a great love of nature and was a gifted gardener. His favorite place to spend a day off was in the mountains west of Banff, AB and often revisited Emerald Lake, where he had honeymooned with Edith in the thirties. Norman was blessed with five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He spent countless hours with all of them and they often brought out the child within himself. Norman is survived by his children, daughter and son-in-law David and Pat Cullen-McMechan; and his son and daughter-in-law Brian and Seija Webb. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Sarah Webb, Timothy Webb, Bob and Sandra Cullen, Susan Cullen and her husband Robert Hawkes, Bruce and Michelle Cullen; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney, Justin, Andrew, Michael, Lindsay and Sean. Norman is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim Webb, Doug and Billie Webb, Len and Pearl Webb and his sister Dorothy Beck. Funeral Services will be held at First Baptist Church (1311 – 4th Street S.W.) on Wednesday, November 10, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
