Obituary of James Patrick Johnson

The family sadly announces that our beloved husband, father and brother James (Jim) Patrick Johnson passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 after an eighteen month battle with cancer. Jim was born on September 11, 1938 in Calgary, AB and spent his entire life as a proud Calgarian. Raised in the Ramsey district, he attended Ramsay, Colonel Walker and Western Canada High Schools. Jim was an employee of the City of Calgary, retiring in 1993 after thirty-six years of service. Upon retiring he took up golf at Valley Ridge and then Lynx Ridge Golf Club, where he enjoyed many, many games with his new golf buddies and friends. Jim always loved his golf trips to the Rockies, his yard and gardening and especially a cold afternoon beer with neighbors. Jim is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Sharon (nee Gale); daughter Linda (fiancÚ, Dave Townsend) of Mount Prospect, Il; son Dan; and a brother Allan (Judy) of Calgary; as well as nephews Jim and David and theirs families; several aunts; uncles; and numerous cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Reg (1980) and Mary (1994) and infant brother Bernard (1942). Jim and his family were helped and comforted by the caring support shown by many friends, good neighbors and his golf buddies throughout his illness. He will be loved forever and sorely missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Crowfoot Chapel (82 Crowfoot Circle N.W.) on Monday, November 8, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
