Obituary of Nicholas Rupert Haday

Nicholas Haday passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Peter Lougheed Centre on Sunday, October 31, 2004, surrounded by all his loved ones. Nicholas was born on July 27, 1929 in Saskatoon, SK, growing up on the farm and receiving his schooling in Blaine Lake, SK. As a young man, Nick moved to Calgary in 1955 and made Calgary his home until his passing. He worked as a Waiter at many Calgary establishments, later joining CP Rail. His most recent job was owning his own trucking and back hoe business, contracting out for the City of Calgary until his retirement. Nicholas had a great passion for traveling, especially to Las Vegas. Radium and Fairmont, BC were among his favourite holidays with his daughter Linda and her family, and his brothers and sister. Early this Spring he even managed to squeeze in a trip to Cuba. As he traveled and drove, he liked to sing his favourite Country and Western tunes. Nicholas was very proud of his family, especially his only granddaughter Marylynn who was his pride and joy. Nicholas is survived by his beloved daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Michael Arbic; loving granddaughter Marylynn; and Linda’s mother Mabel and her family. He is also survived by his two brothers, Bill (Ruth) and Walter (Susie) from Saskatoon, SK; sister Vera (Irwin) Janzen of Drayton Valley, AB; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Nicholas was predeceased by his parents, Onufrey (1967) and Anne (1995); and infant brother Alex of Saskatoon, SK. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Eastside Memorial Chapel (5388 Memorial Drive N.E.) on Thursday, November 4, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. with Pastor Curt Snell officiating. Nicholas will be interred at his mother’s graveside at a later date in Saskatoon, SK. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
