Obituary of William Arnold Soren Petersen
William Arnold (Arnie) Petersen, beloved husband of Mrs. Peggy Petersen of Calgary, passed away at the Beverly Centre Lake Midnapore on Thursday, October 28, 2004 at the age of 86 years.
Arnie was born on March 26, 1918 in Yorkton, SK. He started farming while growing up in SK. At the age of 19 years, Arnie and Peggy met and were married in 1937. Two years later Arnie enlisted in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces and served overseas from 1939 to 1945. Upon his return Arnie and Peggy moved to Vancouver and Arnie joined the BC Provincial Police. He transferred to the RCMP when the Provincial Police disbanded and continued work with the RCMP for twenty-six years, retiring in 1965. He then began working with Alberta Corrections. Arnie was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the RCMP Veterans Association.
Besides Peggy, his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Arnie will be remembered by his two sons and daughters-in-law Bert and Luella Petersen and Gary and Joanne Petersen; his daughter Cathy Petersen; grandchildren, Karen, Doug, Kim, and Kris; and great-grandchildren, Jacob, Jayna, Sandra, Joshua, and Patrick. He is also survived by two sisters, Peggy and Gloria. Arnie was predeceased by his parents Gladys and Soren; and three brothers, Robert, Gladwin and Stanley.
Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Wednesday, November 3, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
