Obituary of Vera Marion Campbell

Vera Marion Campbell of Calgary, passed away at the George Boyack Care Centre on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 at the age of 94 years. Vera was born in Sheffield, England on October 12, 1910. She immigrated to Canada by ship at the age of nine months with her parents Walter and Annie Axelby and her sister Edith. Calgary has remained her home ever since. She was married April 10, 1936 and she began her lifelong role as a wife, mother and grandmother. She was an active member of Knox United Church until being afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 80. Following Jimmy’s death in 1974, Vera enjoyed traveling with her younger sister Muriel. At home, she truly enjoyed her yard and garden and spent many happy hours outside. She also volunteered for the Grace Hospital Auxiliary, enjoying knitting for newborns. Vera is survived by her daughter Marion McMullen. She is also lovingly remembered by three grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Murray and Roberta of Victoria, BC, Steven of Calgary, AB and Ken and Rae of Airdrie, AB. Vera is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Sydney, Madelaine, Lochlyn, Ethan and Nolen; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins whom she dearly loved, as well as the love that she received from the McMullen family. As well as Jimmy, Vera was also predeceased by her two sisters and son-in-law Morley Boyd McMullen.
