Obituary of Donald Harry Heimbecker

Donald Harry, beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Saint); father of Michael, Rodney and Wendy (George) Andrusyshyn of Calgary; grandfather of Tim and Julie Andrusyshyn; brother of Grant (Betty) and Ray passed over on October 21, 2004. Donald was born February 18, 1927 in Calgary the son of Harry and Dorothy (nee Turner) and raised in the Scarboro district. His passions were horticulture and people. He started growing roses in 1938. He received his P.Ag. from the University of Alberta in 1952 and taught at Olds College where he met Elizabeth who he married on June 30, 1958. Donald farmed in the Midnapore and Priddis areas and worked for 4-H and Junior Forest Wardens. He wrote many stories about growing up in Calgary in the thirties and forties. And, of course, Donald developed his beautiful demonstration rose garden and shared his knowledge freely. A drop in Celebratory Supper and Wake will start at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 2004 at the family home to which all who knew Donald are warmly invited.
