Obituary of Victoria Anastasia Martin

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Victoria (Tory) Martin (nee Barron) of Calgary, who passed away at the Foothills Medical Centre on Wednesday, October 20, 2004, at the age of 90 years. She will be deeply missed by her children, Patsy (Al) Patterson, Kesner (Sonia) Martin, and Robert (Angela) Martin. She will also be missed by her grandchildren, Nancy, Marla (Joe), Michelle (Dale), Corey (Cathy) and Malcolm. In addition she is survived by her cherished great-grandchildren Lucas, Andrew, Cade, Robert, and Samantha. Victoria was born in Langdon, AB. She went to normal school in Calgary, to become a Teacher. She first started teaching in the Rosebud and Mossleigh area where she met and married her husband Lawrence Linden and moved to BC which was one of the happiest times of her life. She returned to Calgary and finished her teaching career as Assistant Principal and Principal, retiring in the early 1970’s. She was active with the Retired Teachers Association of Calgary and loved to play bridge and drive her friends around to different events. Following retirement, she worked as a Fashion Model and Tour Guide. Everyone who met her admired her for her spirit and zest for life. She was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Linden, sister Anele Jenkins and brother Victor Barron. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Pius X Catholic Church (2424 – 24th Avenue N.W.) on Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev.
