Obituary of Robert Haines

Robert Everett Chamney Haines, beloved husband of Alice Haines of Calgary, passed away at the Intercare Brentwood Care Centre on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the age of 89 years. Robert was born on May 3, 1915 in Dilke, SK. He married Alice on June 26, 1940 and came to Calgary in 1942 while still serving with the Royal Canadian Air Force. In 1953 Robert began teaching as an Automotive Instructor at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology, retiring in 1979. Robert was a creative genius and could build anything imaginable. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. Besides his loving wife Alice, Robert is survived by his three children, Gord Haines and Gail, Glenda and Rob Wilson, Larry and Joan Haines, all of Calgary; three grandchildren, Everett Wilson, Jennifer and Johnathon Haines; as well as several in-laws, nieces and nephews. Robert was predeceased by his parents Evans and Mary Jane; and a brother “Rusty”. A private Funeral Service was held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North).
