Obituary of Tom Malcolm

Thomas (Tom) G.K. (Ace) Malcolm beloved husband of Mrs. Pat Malcolm of Calgary, passed away on Saturday, October 16, 2004, at the age of 88 years. Tom was born on April 18, 1916 in Calgary (Parkhill) and was a proud native Calgarian for over 88 years. He married Anne Sande in 1943 and they had 13 wonderful years before her passing. He married Patricia Johnston in 1959 and they celebrated their 45th anniversary this spring. Tom was a lover of life and loved to travel and find all the world’s beauty. He photographed it in all of its splendour. Tom was a lover of the outdoors and loved to fish and hunt although his most lasting outdoor love was his flowers and gardening. Tom was an excellent athlete in his youth leading his hockey team in scoring and being a member of a Western Canadian soccer championship team. He loved all manners of sports and played golf originally at the Bowness Golf Club, bagged his “Ace” as a caddy at the Calgary Golf and Country Club and played over 50 years at the Earl Grey Golf Course. He was a charter member of the Calgary Winter Club and a proud president of the Southern Alberta Curling Association. He loved his hockey and was the coach of the Arena Dukes Hockey Teams winning seasons in the 40’s. Tom was a court reporter for over 37 years and his love of the law led to two of his sons pursuing the law and now two of his grandchildren. Tom was predeceased by his loving sister (Agnes) and brother, (Arch). Tom is survived by Pat and his six children: Bob, (Frances) Mary, Maureen, (Jerry), Jim, Bruce (his special friend Aurora), and Ed (Marilyn) and his eight grandchildren: Brad, Christine, Sandra, Erin, Renee, Stephanie, Robyn and Leah. Tom is also survived by his brother-in-law Bill Sande (Helen), sister-in-law Pauline Sande and sister-in-law Margaret Anderson (Cecil).
