Obituary of Menzies Wyper Robertson

Menzies Robertson, beloved husband for sixty years of the late Elsie Robertson of Calgary, passed away peacefully at the Mayfair Care Centre on Thursday, October 14, 2004 at the age of 85 years. Born on December 25, 1918 in Lumphinnans, Fifeshire, Scotland, Menzies spent most of his working life in Aberdeen and Fort William, Scotland, other than the years 1939 to 1945 when he served with the Royal Army Service Corps and saw action in France, North Africa, Italy and again in France with the “D” Day Invasion in 1944. After retirement from working as a Foreman in two pulp and paper mills, Menzies and Elsie immigrated to Calgary in 1986. They very much enjoyed their subsequent years with their ever-expanding family, particularly their grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave them untold pleasure in their latter years. Menzies will be sadly missed by his only child Patricia (Gordon) Singer; his two grandchildren, Iain (Sally) Singer and Wendy (Bradley) O’Connor; and his five great-grandchildren, Courtney, Casey, Erin, Kelsey, and Jack. Funeral Services to celebrate Menzies’ Life will be held at Red Deer Lake United Church (West on Highway #22X past Spruce Meadows) on Wednesday, October 20, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with the Rev.
